Lotions,
Creams and Gels
Lotions: Lavender & Myrrh or Manuka
Our Lotions have been designed for
use in-between Melts to help with Fungal skin problems.
A small amount is applied twice daily and rubbed
gently into the skin. Our Lotions are:
light
non-greasy
easily absorbed by the skin
These
Lotions have proved to be particularly effective around
senstive eye, ear and nose areas where Fungal problems
often occur. Use in-between Melts / MicroNeem to help
your guinea's skin. A small amount is
applied twice daily and rubbed gently into the skin. It has proved particularly effective around
sensitive ear and eye areas on Mini-Pigs. The Lotion
is also useful for guineas under 12 weeks with Fungal skin problems - Melts
are not recommended for guineas below this age.
Manuka Lotion produces good results where there are Fungal
skin problems, but where there is very dry / cracked skin the Lotion with Lavender
& Myrrh
would be more appropriate. The
Manuka Lotion has also proved to be very effective where
the problem was Ringworm.
DO NOT
USE ON PREGNANT SOWS.
Available
in 50ml and 100ml bottles.
Cocoa Butter Cream
This is a very rich, heavy-duty handmade cream
with Cocoa Butter, Shea Butter, Avocado, Calendula and Lavender. Designed to soothe very dry skin where there
is a bad Fungal infection with bald patches, it melts on contact with the skin
and is easily absorbed. It helps to keep
the skin moist and prevent the dry skin / Fungal Spores spreading
everywhere.
Where there is a severe
Fungal problem with crusts, this cream can help to soften the crusty areas
before you attempt to give your guinea a shampoo or Melt (apply and leave
it on overnight). The Lavender contained
in the cream can also help to calm your guinea, and is especially useful if
they are fitting. This cream has also
been used successfully to help guineas with sore / cracked feet and nipples, and
for very dry ears.
DO NOT USE ON PREGNANT SOWS.
Available
in 35gm or 70gm pots

Comments
from a happy customer:
"I
just thought I would drop you a line to say that Ginny's ear has completely
cleared from the Fungal Infection thanks to the lotion you sent." Sue

This
is how Sue first described the problem with her newly
acquired guinea: "We have recently bought a young guinea pig and a couple of days later we
noticed she had white tide marks on one of her ears. A crusty bit formed which
has since fallen off and has left her with a very jaggy edged ear and she still
has the white tide marks. I have not seen her scratching. I took her to the vets who I do not have a lot of confidence in as he
started looking inn a book, umming and arring then gave her an antibiotic
injection and asked me to give her Baytril for the next 5 days - and of
course charged me a small fortune with the bring her back if it doesn’t improve.
From this consultation I do not have a lot of confidence in the vet treating
this."
Sadly
Vets often misdiagnose Fungal skin problems, so check
out for yourself how to
identify what type of problem you have. If
you purchase a guinea from a pet shop, do be aware that
they regularly come with "free gifts" such as
Mites, Lice or Fungal skin problems.......and often
the patter of tiny feet!
