Essential
Oils & Cats
Did you know
that Essential
Oils
can be toxic to cats?
A
cat's liver is unable to metabolise some of the chemical
components found in Essential Oils, eventually causing
liver failure. This can happen with oils applied
to the skin or inhaled. Depending on the oil(s) used,
toxicity can occur very quickly or over time with long-term
use.
If
you have cats around, think carefully before using air
fresheners, burning aromatherapy candles or using diffusers
with Essential Oils.
Cats
are highly sensitive to Essential Oils as they have
a very good sense of smell, so it is always better to
have professional guidance if you ever consider using
Essential Oils on your cat. Tea Tree Oil is one
of the most problematic oils and the one that people
often have to hand "in case of emergency".
