Product Of The Month: Manuka & Neem Shampoo

Manuka is one of my favourite Essential Oils to work with.  It has a wonderful sweet, spicy aroma like a cross between hay and honey.  It is also known as “New Zealand Tea Tree”, and the best oil comes from the East Cape region of New Zealand.

In my experience, it is the most effective Essential Oil to use where there is a fungal skin problem (including Ringworm).  It also has excellent anti-bacterial qualities.  Compared to Tea Tree Oil (which can be very harsh), it is a very gentle, non-toxic, non-irritating and non-sensitising, so perfect to use for guineas with their sensitive skin.

From this pretty little wild bush also comes Manuka Honey, which is now recognised for its wound healing properties.  Some Vets are using it in the form of Activon which can be used to pack abscesses once they have been cleaned out and flushed, as well as for general wound healing.

Neem is another favourite ingredient here at Gorgeous Guineas because it has so many uses in skincare products.  In India, the Neem tree is known as “The Village Pharmacy” because the whole tree has amazing therapeutic properties…the fruit, bark and leaves contain compounds called liminoids with proven antiseptic, anti-viral, anti-pyretic, anti-inflammatory, anti-ulcer and anti-fungal uses.  We’ve even used Neem Toothpaste to help guineas with mouth ulcers!

Manuka & Neem ShampooThese two ingredients are used in our top selling Manuka & Neem Shampoo.  It was designed specifically to help guineas with fungal skin problems and is brilliant for removing scurfy skin, which if left, can cause irritation. As well as being perfect for guineas with scurfy skin, it can also be used for regular monthly bathing even if your guinea doesn’t have any skin problems.  It is my personal favourite because I love the aroma:)

20ml trial sizes are available if you would like to take it for a test-drive before buying a full size bottle. We’ve also got 2 special offers for May:

The shelf life is 12-14 months, so you’ve got plenty of time to use it up:) Why not treat your guineas to a bit of pampering so that they look, feel and smell gorgeous?
